Roast Pork
Bali’s most famous dish is Babi Guling/ Roast Pork. The barbecue of the pig which it cannot miss in a festival and a ceremony of the Balinese is “Babi Guling”. This special dish is necessary for Balinese. Indonesian most are Muslims. It is assumed that the pig/pork is dirty in the Islam, and it is forbidden to eat. However, most of people of Bali are Bali Hinduism. Many Balinese do not eat the cow, but they like to eat pig especially roast pork.
However, there is many Warung (a small restaurant of Balinese) of local area. And a barbecue of the pigs which Balinese like is the popular dish which is edible in lunch. You may see that many Balinese people eating Babi Guling which are cheap and spicy in small Warung of the town. There is a skin of roast pork, juicy meat and various parts are put on rice. The Babi Guling is loved not only by Balinese but also many tourist and a foreign resident. Please try the Babi Guling/roast pork by all means.

Because the barbecue of the Babi Guling/roast pork takes long time, you maybe not find it in the restaurant which usually visited by tourists. Many Warung in Bali open at around 9:00AM or 10:00AM (GMT +8). When all the roast pork cooked on the day were edible, it is the end in the business hours of that Warung. It is good when you go in the time for slightly early lunch. Some local Warung closed Sunday, public holidays and Balinese holidays. In Balinese Warung, the taste of the cooking is spicy. The person who comes for the first time in Bali, and the person who does not like spicy dishes may be surely surprised. It is hot not to mention a red pepper. The green vegetables (vegetables of the Leguminosae called Lawar) are seasonings spicy too. You should eat carefully if you don’t like spicy food.
